Laserfiche Developer - May 2020 - August 2020

After my journey at ISN Managed Services (Pty) Ltd I seeked employment at Noscotek.

Here I was part of an incredible team of individuals which have but one goal in mind: customer service. Working remotely proper and full time, my communication skills, self-discipline and ability to produce was challenged daily - hourly even! I worked solo on some smaller projects and was later placed in teams, or groups, for larger ones. The biggest challenge for me here was probably that I now had to work as a team member, instead of doing things my way - as an individual. I had to adjust my mindset greatly from working alone for nearly 3 years at ISN Managed Services (Pty) Ltd. Reporting directly to Francois Pienaar and having the extreme privelege of working under, and sometimes with Sheldon Halgreen - the Technical Director, my journey was cut short after 4 months as I was headhunted by GIC - Gap Infrastructure Corporation.


Responsibilites include:

  • Server licensing (Licensing fresh installations of Laserfiche)
  • Doing entire installations of Laserfiche - from an empty VM to a full hosted solution
    • This includes the certificate binding
    • Server Manager usage to setup everything required on the box - like your .net stack etc.
    • Knowning what to remove for optimizing a Laserfiche install
    • Really knowing and understanding the "back end" of Laserfiche and all of it's components
  • SQL backups - and restores
  • Laserfiche migrations - migrating entire instances, with their data - from one VM to another. "Lift and shift"
  • Integrations between softwares using Laserfiche as the middleware
  • User licensing and management thereof
  • Attending scrum meetings well before working hours
  • Creating, reciving and managing scopes from the projects side
  • Scoping the work itself after receiving, to properly understand what is expected within a given time frame
  • High level end user support, worked with Accelo for ticket management
  • Highly strict and intricate time management
  • High level troubleshooting (Includes Laserfiche, jQuery/JavaScript, SQL, C#, server issues, Active Directory, Server certificates (SSL issues), etc.
  • Communicating progress and deadlines to the project coordinator
